1. Go to the 3WK homepage, click on the orange "indie rock", "classic alternative (80's/90's)", or "classic rock" button, and then choose a player to listen.
2. If the station doesn't play immediately, you need a media player.
For Windows Media go here .
For mp3 streams from our website you'll need the .
3WK is also directly listed in Windows Media, the Real Player, iTunes and Shoutcast, and in the Nokia phone.
3. If you click on the listen button, a window opens and then immediately closes, you might have your pop-up blocker software turned on. Disable it, or better yet, just add http://www.3wk.com to sites allowed. You can also try holding the CONTROL key down when you click on the "click to listen" until the player window launches..
4. If you click the listen button and no sound comes out, you might be behind a firewall. Disable the firewall, or if possible in the configuration, tell it to ignore streaming media applications.
5. If you experience buffering (music stops and starts intermittently) you probably aren't getting enough bandwidth. This can happen if you use a dial-up internet connection (56K or less) or if your broadband connection (cable or dsl) is oversubscribed and too many people are using the bandwidth at the same time. Our Windows Media streams are available in 32K so you should be able to get these streams with no problem. But our free mp3 streams are 96K, so you probably can't listen via a dial-up - sorry. But if you have broadband, try listening at a weird time like 3 - 5am and see if you can get 3WK then. If you can, your bandwidth is probably oversold at peak times. Upgrade to a higher meg coming in broadband account IMMEDIATELY. Or you can try clearing your browser cache files, closing all browser windows and starting fresh. You can also try resetting your internet connection by disconnecting power to your cable/dsl modem for a full minute and then reconnecting.
6. If you're getting a clicking sound as the banners or song titles change in the player, you might have sounds turned on in your browser. Click on your computer start button - click control panel - click sounds and audio devices - click on sounds tab - choose program events - windows explorer - start navigation - set to none - hit OK until you can close the control panel.
You should see song titles on both the homepage and in the players.
1.
If you're not seeing song titles, you might have security set too high.
Open your browser and click on internet options - security/custom level and make sure META REFRESH, "active scripting", and "scripting of java applets" are enabled.
2. Song titles can be a few seconds behind because we're sending the song titles separately from the streams. If you miss a song title you can click on the "last 5 songs played" to find out more info.
